Superintendent Pharmacist

Responsibilities

• Act as the Responsible Pharmacist in accordance with UK legislation and GPhC guidance
• Provide professional and regulatory oversight of all pharmacy dispensing and compounding activities
• Ensure full compliance with the Medicines Act 1968, Responsible Pharmacist Regulations, and Human Medicines Regulations 2012
• Maintain and enforce current, approved, and version-controlled Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Oversee compounding activities to ensure medicines are prepared, checked, and stored according to approved standards
• Maintain inspection readiness through rigorous documentation, records, and audit trails
• Supervise pharmacy staff to ensure they are appropriately trained and working within their scope of practice
• Promote a culture of patient safety by managing incidents, near misses, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs)
• Communicate significant risks and compliance issues to pharmacy leadership and legal teams

Requirements

• Pharmacist registered and in good standing with the GPhC
• 8+ years of experience as a pharmacist
• 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent Pharmacist or Pharmacy Manager
• Eligible and willing to act as a Responsible Pharmacist under UK legislation
• Demonstrated understanding of RP accountability and decision-making authority
• Ability to work onsite in London

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in non-sterile compounding pharmacy or pharmaceutical manufacturing in a GMP setting
• Familiarity with quality management systems and audit processes
• Experience in mail-order, digital health, or scaling pharmacy operations
