Supercomputing Software Engineer

Etched is building hardware for frontier intelligence. We co-design chips, racks, software, and manufacturing to deliver best-in-class throughput and latency across both prefill and decode workloads. Our first products are heavily focused on inference.

Responsibilities

• Integrate and maintain BIOS and BMC firmware to ensure robust server boot processes
• Analyze DRAM timings, PCIe configurations, and power state transitions for high performance
• Validate security features including root of trust mechanisms
• Design and implement advanced system logging and diagnostic capabilities
• Integrate and optimize node-level orchestration technologies like Kubernetes and Docker
• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for system software stability
• Collaborate with hardware and software teams to resolve complex system-level issues

Requirements

• Proficiency in C/C++ or Python
• Strong understanding of BIOS and BMC firmware architectures
• Experience with server boot processes
• Knowledge of root-of-trust and security principles
• Strong understanding of Linux operating systems and server hardware architectures
• Experience with advanced system logging and diagnostic tools
• Experience with version control systems like Git
• Ability to read and interpret hardware logs

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Kubernetes or Docker
• Experience with tracing tools such as perf, eBPF, or ftrace
• Experience with performance testing tools like gProf, vTune, or Wireshark
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with Rust
• Experience with kernel-mode driver development and debugging
