Summer Intern for Law Students

Responsibilities

• Assist trial attorneys in defending indigent clients in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York
• Conduct legal research on complex questions
• Draft legal briefs and other substantive documents
• Participate in field investigations and client interviews
• Attend and participate in court hearings and trials
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including social workers, paralegals, and investigators

Requirements

• Completed 1L or 2L year of law school
• Ability to submit a single PDF containing a cover letter, resume, transcript, and writing sample
• Strong interest in public defense and the federal criminal process
