About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide 24-hour-a-day direct supervision, leadership, and guidance to teen campers in a rustic overnight setting.
  • Facilitate and support camp activities including hiking, arts & crafts, swimming, and talent shows.
  • Model positive attitudes and implement trauma-informed care for campers who have experienced gender-based violence.
  • Manage cabin dynamics, behavior, and time management to ensure campers arrive at meals and activities on time.
  • Maintain camper records to evaluate individual needs, goals, and progress.
  • Collaborate closely with co-counselors and the leadership team to ensure camper safety and program success.
  • Follow all emergency procedures and camp policies to maintain a safe environment.

Requirements

  • High school graduate (1-2 years of college preferred).
  • At least one year of experience in camping or child supervision, or completion of an acceptable training course.
  • Emotional maturity and the ability to manage stressful situations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to live and work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat and humidity.
  • A passion for working with children and a commitment to trauma-informed supervision.
  • Flexibility and a willingness to work as a cooperative team player.
