About the role

Responsibilities

  • Implement lesson plans and materials provided by the regular teacher, divisional office, or department head
  • Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful classroom environment that promotes learning and engagement
  • Adjust and personalize lessons based on student needs and classroom dynamics while adhering to curriculum standards
  • Document a summary of the day, including progress on assignments and notable student behavior
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with students, colleagues, and parents to support effective learning
  • Adhere to school policies and procedures, including taking attendance and managing classroom protocols
  • Supervise students throughout the school day, including during recess, lunch, and transitions
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and division heads to ensure seamless educational continuity

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (preference for Education or a related field)
  • Proven ability to manage classrooms effectively and engage students
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility, reliability, and adaptability to changing schedules or subjects
  • Successful completion of all legally required and school-required background and screening checks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior teaching or substitute teaching experience
  • Experience leveraging technology for instructional innovation and administrative tasks
