About the role
Responsibilities
- Follow and implement lesson plans prepared by the primary classroom teacher
- Create a respectful and inclusive classroom environment
- Provide individual and group instruction to meet varied learning needs
- Accurately record daily attendance and submit necessary documentation
- Collaborate with teaching assistants, grade-level teams, and administration
- Support students across a range of subjects from Kindergarten through Grade 8
Requirements
- Relevant coursework or experience working with children in an educational setting
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to follow detailed lesson plans and adapt as necessary
- Excellent communication skills with students, staff, and administrators
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to student engagement
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods
- Ability to occasionally lift or move objects up to 20 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
- Valid state teaching certification
- Prior experience working in a school environment
- Familiarity with K - Grade 8 curriculum
