Substitute Teacher

Responsibilities

• Fully cover lead teacher classes during absences, including writing and implementing lesson plans, delivering presentations, and grading daily assignments
• Provide long-term and daily coverage across multiple Democracy Prep schools in elementary, middle, or high school settings
• Maintain a classroom culture of high expectations and high support for all scholars
• Create an inclusive environment through engagement with training and dialogue on race, identity, diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Plan and prepare for effective implementation of a coherent, research-based curriculum
• Develop and use assessment data to refine instructional practice
• Maintain strong relationships with scholars, families, and colleagues through effective communication
• Participate in whole-school events and duties during long-term coverage assignments, including transitions, family conferences, and tutoring

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• Unwavering commitment to the Democracy Prep mission of college success and authentic civic engagement
• Dedication to antiracism and contributing to a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Flexibility across multiple content areas with ability to build relationships quickly with scholars
• Willingness to follow the guidelines and systems established by other teachers and school leadership
