About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and health services within an assigned campus in the absence of the regular Nurse (RN).
- Render first aid and emergency care for sick or injured students and staff.
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct student screening procedures, including referrals and follow-up activities.
- Administer medication in accordance with district policy and legal guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and complete clinic records, including immunization data and emergency treatment records.
- Interpret health information and policies for teachers, students, parents, and medical professionals.
- Supervise and train LVNs, Nurse Aides, and other designated school staff in clinic procedures.
- Establish plans of care for medically fragile children.
- Maintain confidentiality of all medical information.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited professional nursing education program.
- Current Texas RN license issued by the Board of Nurse Examiners.
- Ability to practice within the limits of the Texas Nurse Practice Act and American Nurses Association standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of nursing practice, preferably in a public school or public health setting.
- Current CPR certification.
- Certification in vision, hearing, and spinal screening.
