About the role
Responsibilities
- Supervise students in the event that their regular teacher is unable to lead class
- Manage classroom behavior and implement educational programs focusing on developmental needs
- Interpret lesson plans quickly and create reports to inform permanent teachers of student progress
- Maintain a safe, organized physical environment and keep accurate attendance and daily records
- Plan appropriate snacks and participate in the evaluation of children using observational means
- Communicate effectively with staff, program directors, and parents to support child development
- Supervise and evaluate practicum participants and provide feedback to administration
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field
- Minimum of one year of experience working with young children
- Must be eligible for unsupervised access to children per the CT Commissioner of Early Childhood within four months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Connecticut State Teacher Education Certification
- Master's Degree in a relevant field
