Substitute Early Childhood Teacher

Responsibilities

• Supervise students in the event that their regular teacher is unable to lead class
• Manage classroom behavior and implement educational programs focusing on developmental needs
• Interpret lesson plans quickly and create reports to inform permanent teachers of student progress
• Maintain a safe, organized physical environment and keep accurate attendance and daily records
• Plan appropriate snacks and participate in the evaluation of children using observational means
• Communicate effectively with staff, program directors, and parents to support child development
• Supervise and evaluate practicum participants and provide feedback to administration

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field
• Minimum of one year of experience working with young children
• Must be eligible for unsupervised access to children per the CT Commissioner of Early Childhood within four months of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Connecticut State Teacher Education Certification
• Master's Degree in a relevant field
