Substitute Custodian

Responsibilities

• Perform routine daily cleaning and disinfecting including vacuuming, dusting, and mopping
• Use automatic floor scrubbers to maintain floors
• Keep buildings and premises, including walkways, parking lots, and play areas, clean
• Ensure exit doors and panic bolts are functioning properly during occupancy
• Clean corridors, bathrooms, sanitary fixtures, and drinking fountains daily
• Wash windows inside and outside at least twice a year
• Keep grounds free from rubbish and maintain all floors in attractive condition
• Clean chalkboards and marker boards weekly
• Report major repairs to the Administrator
• Move furniture or equipment as required for school activities
• Comply with local laws for trash and waste disposal
• Ensure the safe condition of outdoor structures

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Aptitude and competence for custodial responsibilities
• Ability to work effectively with diverse school personnel and students
• Solid record of punctuality
• Willingness to be trained
• Reliable and team-oriented

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous custodial experience
• Experience in a school setting
• Knowledge of working with At-Risk students
