Substance Abuse Counselor

Responsibilities

• Deliver individual and group substance abuse counseling services
• Develop and facilitate alcohol, drug, and tobacco prevention and education programming
• Engage with students in residential and common areas including dormitories and recreation areas
• Collaborate with program leadership and interdisciplinary staff
• Support student development, healthy coping skills, and relapse prevention
• Provide crisis intervention and behavioral support as needed
• Develop individualized case management plans to improve student retention
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Uphold professional, ethical, and HIPAA confidentiality standards

Requirements

• Active and valid Substance Abuse Counseling certification in South Dakota (e.g., Licensed Addiction Counselor - LAC)
• Minimum of one year of experience in substance abuse or behavioral health services for adolescents or young adults
• Ability to work on-site in Nemo, SD

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
