Styrofoam Sculpting & Fabrication Technician

Responsibilities

• Sculpt, carve, and shape EPS foam blocks using hot wire cutters, CNC routers, and hand tools
• Interpret technical drawings, 3D renders, and design briefs for accurate replication
• Apply hardcoat, fibreglass, gypsum, and other coating systems to foam pieces
• Produce scaled prototypes and test pieces for approval
• Assemble multi-component foam structures using adhesives and internal armatures
• Coordinate with painters, carpenters, and project managers for timely delivery
• Manage foam stock, adhesives, and consumables while minimizing waste
• Maintain a clean, dust-controlled workshop environment and handle chemical coatings safely

Requirements

• Minimum 4+ years of experience in foam sculpting or fabrication
• Proficiency with hot wire CNC, manual hot wire tools, rasps, and rotary carving tools
• Experience applying hardcoat, fibreglass, or gypsum coatings to foam substrates
• Ability to interpret 2D drawings and 3D renders
• Understanding of structural requirements and armature design for large-scale builds
• Strong spatial awareness and sculptural detail orientation
• Knowledge of foam-safe adhesives and coating compatibility
• Physical stamina for manual work and lifting in a workshop environment
