About the role

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a success advisor for undergraduate Nursing students, providing academic, personal, and holistic wrap-around support.
  • Proactively monitor academic progress, course selection, and college requirements to ensure timely graduation.
  • Maintain accurate advising records and update academic program plans for assigned advisees.
  • Collaborate with campus partners, including the Counseling Center, Financial Aid, and Disability Services, to connect students with essential resources.
  • Support student retention and diversity initiatives by working with programs like the Educational Opportunity Program.
  • Interpret and advise students on university policies, curriculum requirements, and registration procedures.
  • Coordinate student-specific logistics such as scrubs ordering, CPR classes, and the CNA application process.
  • Support college events, including graduation and commitment to profession ceremonies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 1-3 years of experience in academic advising, teaching, counseling, or student affairs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Access, Word, Excel, Outlook) and database management.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and families.
  • Knowledge of FERPA and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in student affairs or a related field.
  • Experience working with underrepresented, first-generation, or diverse college students.
  • Familiarity with student development theories and retention principles.
  • Knowledge of university data analytics software such as PeopleSoft, Civitas, or EAB.
  • Experience in recruitment and public speaking.
