Student Staff, 1st Gen Program

Responsibilities

• Support event and program planning, including logistics, attendee tracking, and venue confirmation
• Provide front desk coverage, manage program calendars, and maintain office resources
• Assist with communications and marketing by capturing program history and helping develop promotion strategies
• Conduct outreach to represent the program in community and campus spaces
• Collect data regularly to support database management and assessment efforts
• Provide peer mentoring through an individualized, holistic model to support student needs

Requirements

• Currently enrolled at UM-Flint during the semester(s) employed
• Participation in Educational Opportunity Initiatives (EOI)
• Adequate computer and writing skills
• Ability to use a strengths-based approach when working with diverse student populations
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to maintain a professional appearance and character

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of multimedia recording and video editing
• Experience working with students on college motivation and postsecondary success
• Eligibility for Work-study
