About the role
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and implementing individualized, goal-centered programs for adults with developmental disabilities
- Promote a supportive and nurturing environment for residents
- Support residents with daily needs including food, clothing, cleaning, and personal care
- Participate in the planning of treatment and rehabilitation plans in conjunction with team members and professionals
- Maintain accurate daily logs, shift reports, and incident reports
- Ensure the general upkeep, cleanliness, and maintenance of the residence and office
- Assist with the transport of clients to and from destinations using program vehicles
- Support the spiritual needs of participants through engagement in programming activities
Requirements
- Minimum of one year of post-secondary education in Human Services or an equivalent field
- At least 3 months of experience working with adults with developmental disabilities or vulnerable populations
- Valid Ontario Class G driver's license with a satisfactory driver's abstract
- Proficiency with MS Office and electronic scheduling software
- Ability to provide a Criminal Background Check with vulnerable sector screening
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Understanding of the psychological and social dynamics of working with developmentally challenged individuals
Preferred Qualifications
- Training and experience in pharmacology and medication administration
- Training and experience in lift and transfer techniques
