About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide supervised research and support for policy development and planning projects within the City Strategy Department.
- Respond to general correspondence and attend to phone and counter enquiries as directed.
- Assist with the administration of developer contributions through the subdivision approval process.
- Assess and appraise the merits of simple planning proposals, including planning scheme amendments and permit applications.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and participate in departmental liaison with planning proponents.
- Assist colleagues in preparing presentations, GIS mapping, information pamphlets, and maintaining webpages.
Requirements
- Currently undertaking or holding a Bachelor's degree or postgraduate study in urban/regional planning, urban design, landscape architecture, or a related discipline.
- Developing knowledge of Victorian planning legislation, principles, and processes.
- Ability to use GIS and other data analysis systems to prepare maps and plans.
- Strong oral and written communication skills for interacting with diverse groups and the general public.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct effective research and solve problems within a strategic framework.
- Current driver's license.
