Student Library Assistant

Responsibilities

• Provide basic circulation assistance to patrons using library software
• Maintain a clean and organized library space
• Shelve and shift books, conduct shelf reading, and assist in de-accessioning materials
• Assist with library opening and closing procedures
• Refer individuals to appropriate library personnel as needed
• Support patrons with basic computer software and hardware questions
• Maintain printers and troubleshoot minor equipment problems

Requirements

• Currently enrolled student at the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW)
• Minimum overall GPA of 2.5 or greater
• Experience working with the public and using computers, photocopiers, or printers
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and productivity software
• Ability to lift at least 20 lbs and move book trucks in excess of 100 lbs
• Ability to reach overhead, bend, squat, and climb stairs to retrieve materials

Preferred Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a graduate or professional program
• Prior knowledge of library operations, services, audiovisual equipment, and computer software
