Student Information Systems (SIS) Solutions Architect

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain enterprise integration architecture connecting Banner SaaS with LMS, ERP, CRM, and research platforms using Ellucian Ethos and RESTful APIs.
• Define integration standards, API contracts, and authentication protocols including OAuth 2.0, JWT, and OIDC.
• Serve as the senior technical authority for the Banner SaaS environment, managing releases, performance optimization, and change control.
• Design and execute data migration frameworks to ensure data integrity when transitioning from legacy systems to Banner SaaS.
• Develop and maintain database procedures, reporting queries, and data pipelines using SQL and PL/SQL.
• Identify opportunities to apply AI-enabled workflows and LLM-assisted automation to modernize legacy processes.
• Drive the adoption of modern engineering practices such as CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Act as the primary technical liaison with Ellucian and other SIS vendors to ensure solutions align with institutional standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in enterprise application development or integration architecture.
• 5+ years of experience working with Ellucian Banner or a comparable higher-education ERP.
• Demonstrated expertise in API design (REST, OAuth 2.0, JWT) and event-driven messaging.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and Oracle database management.
• Proven experience in large-scale data migration and validation.
• Experience with cloud platforms and DevOps practices (CI/CD, containerization).
• Understanding of higher education processes such as student lifecycle, registration, and academic records.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Banner SaaS, including release management and extension frameworks.
• Experience with the Ellucian ecosystem, specifically Ethos, Degree Works, or Ellucian Experience.
• Experience applying AI/LLM-enabled workflows to operational automation or legacy modernization.
• Familiarity with reporting and BI tools such as Power BI, Cognos, or Tableau.
• Prior experience supporting large-scale migrations from on-premise systems to SaaS.
