Student Cook

Responsibilities

• Perform food preparation tasks including slicing vegetables, making sauces, frying, grilling meats, and portioning ingredients.
• Ensure all food items meet quality standards for taste, presentation, and freshness.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas, including washing dishes and managing trash and compost.
• Adhere to strict food safety and sanitation practices.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations in a fast-paced environment.
• Follow all Middlebury College and Dining Service policies and guidelines.

Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled as a student at Middlebury College.
• Ability to pass SERVsafe training and testing within 14 days of hiring.
• Ability to stand for long periods and perform frequent bending or overhead reaching.
• Physical ability to lift 10-15 pounds frequently and up to 45 pounds occasionally.
• Flexible availability for various shifts, including nights and weekends.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and reliability skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in food service is preferred, though not required as training is provided.
