Student-Athlete Success Specialist

Responsibilities

• Maintain a caseload of student-athletes to enhance academic strategy development and support overall student success.
• Encourage goal achievement through self-assessment, reflection, and connection to campus and community resources.
• Support student persistence, retention, and graduation rates.
• Motivate and empower a diverse population of students to reach their academic potential.
• Build and maintain professional relationships while working both as an individual contributor and a team player.
• Manage projects, meet deadlines, and address emergencies or difficult situations as they arise.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, education, or a related field.
• One year of experience in academic support services within an educational or non-profit setting (e.g., advising, mentoring, tutoring, or student programming).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as assigned.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, education, or a related field.
• One year of experience specifically in higher education retention programs.
• Experience utilizing online student engagement systems.
