Student Accounts Analyst

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary point of contact for students, parents, and stakeholders regarding billing and payment inquiries.
• Administer payment plans, process tuition adjustments, and reconcile student accounts in accordance with institutional policies.
• Manage cash receipt functions, including processing tuition payments, donations, and other receipts while ensuring compliance with Federal Title IV regulations.
• Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate documentation to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Assist with third-party invoicing, payment transactions, refunds, and account write-offs.
• Respond to inquiries regarding 1098-T forms and maintain accurate tax documentation.
• Analyze large datasets from financial and student information systems to identify trends and support decision-making.
• Collaborate with Financial Aid, Residential Life, and the Registrar to resolve student financial matters.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in higher education, accounting, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of experience).
• 1 to 3 years of experience in student accounts or a similar customer service role.
• Working knowledge of accounting principles, including reconciliation and reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a strong emphasis on Excel.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
• Ability to work occasional nights and weekends as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in higher education financial services or student accounts management.
• Familiarity with student information systems and financial software platforms.
• Knowledge of FERPA, federal regulations, and Title IV cash management rules.
