About the role
Responsibilities
- Support the operation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of advanced structural and materials testing systems
- Contribute to the design, setup, instrumentation, and execution of complex experimental testing programs
- Design, modify, and fabricate custom laboratory apparatus
- Create and review technical drawing sets for manufacturing and testing
- Analyze and recommend options for project design and experimental process improvements
- Liaise with service providers to coordinate the resolution of technical and administrative issues
- Provide safety training and ensure strict adherence to laboratory safety procedures and standards
Requirements
- Advanced College Diploma (3 years) in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of three years of relevant technical experience in a structural or materials testing laboratory
- Experience with servo-hydraulic testing systems or advanced structural/materials testing equipment
- Experience with experimental instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition systems
- Proven experience troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, or electronic systems
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or hold weights exceeding 25 kg
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate degree in a related field
- Experience implementing experimental test setups in research or industrial testing environments
- Experience working directly with equipment vendors and manufacturers for technical support
