Structural Inspector (Steel)

Responsibilities

• Inspect steel fabrication and erection works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, and quality standards
• Perform layout, fit-up, final inspection, dimension checks, and weld visual inspections for structural steel components including columns, beams, and trusses
• Review welding, bolting, and other steel connection works to verify workmanship and adherence to codes
• Conduct material verification and traceability checks for all incoming and installed steel components
• Witness onsite testing required under contract specifications or approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITP)
• Perform regular site inspections and audits to identify defects, deviations, or non-conformities
• Prepare detailed inspection reports, document non-conformities, and follow up on corrective actions
• Coordinate closely with contractors and project teams to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion
• Assist in reviewing contractor method statements, inspection plans, and welding procedures
• Ensure all steel works comply with safety regulations and environmental requirements

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in construction supervision within a consultancy environment
• Deep knowledge of steel fabrication and erection processes
• Expertise in welding and bolting inspection
• Strong understanding of QA/QC reporting, auditing, and material traceability
• Knowledge of concept design, buildability, and construction techniques
