Structural Inspector

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections to ensure structural work complies with contract specifications for projects such as reservoirs, bridges, tunnels, and substations
• Perform inspection activities including demolition oversight and construction monitoring of various structural elements
• Maintain project documentation, including daily diaries, quantity calculations, and office files
• Prepare daily reports and verify that only approved materials are incorporated into the work
• Identify potential conflicts or technical issues and advise supervisors on possible solutions
• Report on installed quantities to verify payment applications and change order work
• Coordinate with subconsultants for surveying and material testing
• Document nonconformance and assist in determining appropriate resolutions
• Support the development of job safety practices and quality control procedures

Requirements

• Diploma or bachelor degree in civil engineering or a related field
• 5+ years of experience as a structural inspector within the region
• Strong knowledge of public works contracts and construction processes
• Ability to read and interpret complex plans and specifications
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software
• Strong mathematical skills, including engineering calculations, graphs, and charts
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and team coordination

Preferred Qualifications

• Authority certifications or approvals in a related field
• HSE training and construction safety training (e.g., 10-hour OSHA)
