Structural Engineer

Responsibilities

• Provide full life-cycle structural engineering support for AWS Data Centers, from conceptual design and build to site remediation and maintenance
• Work with multi-disciplinary professionals on conceptual design, build, and retrofit projects at existing data centers
• Create, review, and release structural improvements, designs, and RFPs
• Drive refinements to the Basis of Design, product development, and template specifications for structural systems
• Manage external structural design consultants through the audit, design, and implementation of various projects
• Lead initiatives to improve quality, schedule, and consistency while reducing costs for construction and improvement projects
• Serve as a technical advisor for foundation and structural system reviews

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Structural Engineering
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
• Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission-critical facilities, especially data centers
• Willingness to travel 30-40% for site walks and field observations, including international travel with short notice

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
• Experience using a variety of web-based and other software tools for calculation and data processing
