Structural & Disaster Exposure Engineer

Founded by Stanford PhDs, we are committed to leveraging cutting-edge AI to protect communities and businesses from disaster impacts by empowering insurers and financial institutions with precise building insights.

Responsibilities

• Analyze building imagery and property documents to create datasets for AI training
• Collaborate with AI and backend engineering teams to implement structural expertise into the product
• Support customer success by handling domain-specific technical questions for insurance customers
• Define failure modes and vulnerability frameworks for buildings subjected to natural hazards
• Review and validate AI-generated structural assessments to improve model accuracy

Requirements

• 2–6 years of structural engineering consulting experience with existing buildings
• BS in Civil/Structural Engineering
• Deep knowledge of US building codes, permits, and regional construction practices
• Technical understanding of building failure modes during disasters
• Ability to relocate to San Francisco and work 5 days in-office

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's in Structural Engineering
• Experience in retrofit design or forensic investigations
• Catastrophe modeling experience (hurricane, earthquake, wildfire, etc.)
• Functional programming skills in Python
• Knowledge of statistics and probability
