About the role
Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret static and dynamic ground test and flight data, including sensor selection and environmental factors
- Perform and document structural analyses of launch vehicle structures, including FEA validation and mass optimization
- Conduct structural and dynamic simulations such as static, modal, vibration, buckling, and thermal
- Define test requirements and support subsystem/component testing
- Implement new tools, establish best practices, and coach team members
- Identify optimal solutions to engineering challenges and set standards of excellence
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or similar field
- 1-3 years of industry experience in Aerospace, Automotive, or Marine sectors
- Expert knowledge of structural mechanics and physics-based problem solving
- Proficiency with FEA packages such as ANSYS, Nastran, Abaqus, or Optistruct/Hyperworks
- Experience using NX CAD and/or Teamcenter for model interrogation
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes including conventional and additive manufacturing
- Experience with component life prediction, including ductile metal failure, fatigue, and fracture
- Expertise in vibroacoustic modelling and analysis
- Experience with sensor selection and data post-processing (accelerometers, strain gauges, etc.)
- Experience with static and dynamic structural test methods
- Proficiency in engineering programming, specifically Python
- Strong project management and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in structural analysis of composites
- Experience in linear and non-linear buckling
- Experience with acoustic analysis and testing
- Experience with propellant dynamics modelling (slosh, pogo)
- Experience with coupled loads analyses
- Familiarity with non-linear material simulation
- Familiarity with industry standards such as NASA-STD-5001 or MIL-STD-1540
