Structural Analyst Engineer

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis of spacecraft at unit and system levels using hand calculations and finite element analysis
• Provide design recommendations to the mechanical team to optimize spacecraft environments
• Generate structural test specifications for components and customer payloads
• Conduct mechanical testing including vibration, static load, and shock testing

Requirements

• BS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or a related discipline
• 5+ years of relevant experience
• Experience with dynamics analysis using Femap/Nastran or similar FEA software
• Deep understanding of structural dynamics including modal analysis, resonance, damping, and random vibration
• Familiarity with launch and space environments and their effects on hardware
• Familiarity with material selection
• Excellent technical and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience defining requirements for mechanical systems and components
• Experience analyzing and testing space hardware with on-orbit success
• Deep understanding of spacecraft structural loads (quasi-static, random vibration, shock, thermo-mechanical)
• Familiarity with Coupled Loads Analysis
• Experience running vibration and shock testing
• Previous experience with DoD or USG development programs
• Ability to hold and maintain a USG Security Clearance
