Street Cleansing Operative

Responsibilities

• Manually sweep, litter pick, and cleanse allocated routes to maintain city cleanliness and safety
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions, walking up to four miles per day
• Lift and carry refuse sacks weighing up to 10kg onto a van
• Push and pull wheelie bins or barrels weighing up to 35kg
• Empty litter bins and dig out weeds within required timescales
• Maintain high standards of health and safety and follow all company procedures
• Ensure all equipment is used correctly and kept in good working order
• Communicate professionally with both colleagues and the public

Requirements

• Good communication skills for interacting with the public and team members
• Ability to work independently using initiative and as part of a collaborative team
• Physical fitness to handle manual labor, including lifting 10kg and pushing 35kg
• Ability to walk up to 4 miles per day
• Ability to demonstrate technical knowledge or the capacity to learn the safe use of equipment
