Strategic Purchasing Director

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement long-term and mid-term procurement strategies for multiple divisions (Hydro, ME, EE) to optimize total cost, quality, and delivery.
• Manage the implementation of purchasing strategies and build an effective organization to meet diverse business unit requirements.
• Source and develop new suppliers while managing existing partnerships through frame contracts and lean initiatives.
• Collaborate with global category management and sister companies in China to maximize regional synergies.
• Work closely with divisions to optimize product costs through design-to-cost initiatives and support product transfers.
• Lead and supervise the procurement team, focusing on operational excellence, efficiency, and a continuous improvement culture.
• Partner with the quality division to drive supplier performance and work with operations to reduce material inventory through lean initiatives.
• Support project tendering through early sourcing involvement and ensure full compliance with national laws and procurement regulations.

Requirements

• University Degree in Engineering, with a preference for Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 10 years of procurement management experience within a Multinational Corporation (MNC).
• Deep knowledge of the China Supply Chain is mandatory.
• Strong mechanical procurement background, including understanding of manufacturing subcontracting, casting, and forging components.
• Outstanding fluency in spoken and written English with strong communication skills.
• Proven ability to lead teams and a result-oriented mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of equipment manufacturing and lean manufacturing principles.
