Strategic Finance Lead

Our agentic platform automates the entire transaction: discovery, payments, freight, paperwork, warranty, and financing. Based in New York, we’ve raised $18M from Y Combinator, Initialized Capital, Infinity Ventures, FJ Labs, and other leading investors.

Responsibilities

• Build and own Garage’s operating model, including revenue, GMV, take rate, gross margin, burn, runway, headcount, and cash-flow forecasting
• Define and maintain financial metrics for the marketplace business
• Lead planning cycles across budgets, hiring plans, and growth initiatives
• Monitor cash, runway, liquidity needs, and working capital dynamics
• Build monthly and quarterly reporting packages for founders and investors
• Prepare investor materials, board updates, and diligence support
• Partner with the Accounting Lead on close outputs and transaction flows
• Identify opportunities to improve margin and capital efficiency
• Build scalable finance systems, dashboards, and planning processes

Requirements

• 5+ years experience in strategic finance, FP&A, investment banking, private equity, or consulting
• Strong financial modeling skills (forecasts, scenario analyses, unit economics)
• Deep understanding of startup metrics (GMV, take rate, CAC, payback, burn)
• Experience partnering with senior leaders on resource allocation and budgets
• Strong analytical judgment and comfort with imperfect data
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to operate in an ambiguous, fast-moving, early-stage environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in marketplaces, fintech, payments, lending, or logistics
• Experience at a venture-backed startup (Seed through Series B)
• Experience supporting fundraising or board reporting
• Experience with marketplace or usage-based economics
• Proficiency with tools like Ramp or Carta
