About the role
Responsibilities
- Implement the MassBays Communications Plan and develop strategic outreach plans for diverse target audiences.
- Manage the quarterly newsletter, including content collection and editing.
- Coordinate social media presence with regular updates to increase visibility.
- Engage with partners by convening focus groups, stakeholder workshops, and attending relevant conferences.
- Collaborate with the University Advancement team to identify and reach out to potential funders and supporters.
- Monitor state policy proposals and assist in crafting scientifically based responses.
- Coordinate the development of the MassBays Annual Report and other reporting products.
- Co-lead the planning of major events, such as the State of the Bays conference and EPA program evaluations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or environmental studies.
- At least three years of relevant professional experience.
- Excellent writing skills (two writing samples, such as press releases or blog posts, must be submitted with the application).
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively.
- A strong interest in environmental protection.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Massachusetts state and local government structures.
