About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage the digital content team and lead digital strategy to grow multi-platform content, audience, and engagement
- Oversee all station efforts on social media platforms including Facebook, X, Instagram, and YouTube
- Analyze audience data and metrics to inform editorial decisions and create accountability for results
- Develop workflows that deliver content 24/7 across digital, mobile, app, OTT, and social media platforms
- Partner with news and marketing directors to lead a cohesive cross-platform strategy
- Coach and mentor content teams in best practices for writing and producing digital-first content
- Identify new content types and innovative technologies to reach and serve new audiences
- Ensure all digital content adheres to TEGNA ethical and editorial standards
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or equivalent experience
- 5-7 years of breaking news content experience
- At least 1 year of experience leading digital journalists (formally or informally)
- Deep understanding of SEO best practices for articles, images, and video
- Proficiency with Content Management Systems (CMS) and news production systems
- Experience analyzing audience data and identifying behavioral trends (Google Analytics experience is a plus)
- Strong journalistic judgment and the ability to handle live, breaking news situations under pressure
