Stores Worker

Responsibilities

• Receive, store, and distribute materials, equipment, and supplies
• Unpack and examine incoming shipments for quantity, quality, and damage
• Verify shipments against original orders, invoices, or packing slips and record discrepancies
• Sort and place supplies on racks, shelves, or in bins to ensure proper storage
• Load and unload delivery vans and move materials using forklifts, hand trucks, or other equipment
• Maintain accurate inventory and accounting records using computerized software
• Fill requisitions and assemble customer supply orders
• Perform routine clerical tasks including data entry and preparing invoices
• Sort and deliver U.S. and intradepartmental mail
• Maintain the security and cleanliness of the work area

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One year of experience in stores, supply, warehousing, inventory, or a related field
• Ability to lift and move supplies and materials weighing up to 60 pounds
• Valid State of Iowa driver’s license
• Ability to operate forklifts, hand trucks, and other material handling equipment
• Ability to perform prolonged physical labor, including bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using computerized inventory software systems
• Knowledge of U.S. postal regulations
• Experience with office furniture assembly using hand tools
