STLS Advocate

Responsibilities

• Identify students in temporary living situations (STLS) with sensitivity and facilitate immediate enrollment.
• Determine transportation eligibility and manage CTA card distribution and hardship transportation processes.
• Ensure compliance with STLS program requirements and complete all accountability reports accurately.
• Manage student records and updates within the Aspen Student Information System.
• Develop student action plans to address barriers to academic success and monitor attendance and performance.
• Connect families with community-based organizations, local shelters, and housing service providers.
• Collaborate with school and district staff to participate in dispute resolution and student transitions.
• Maintain ongoing communication with STLS students and parents to document interventions and evaluate program success.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution.
• Experience engaging collaboratively with vulnerable communities and families experiencing housing instability.
• Strong knowledge of CPS and federal regulations, including the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills for reporting and community engagement.
• Proven ability to develop strong, empathetic working relationships with students and caregivers.
• Proficiency in using student information systems (Aspen preferred).
