Sterile Processing Technician II

Responsibilities

• Clean and decontaminate surgical instruments, trays, supplies, and equipment according to established procedures
• Operate sterilization and decontamination equipment, including washers, sonic cleaners, and sterilizers
• Assemble instrument trays and peel packs with proper identification, wrapping, labeling, and sterilization methods
• Monitor and document sterilization loads, including biological and chemical testing results
• Prepare and deliver OR surgical case carts based on surgical schedules and preference cards
• Identify and remove defective or unsafe instruments and report issues to leadership
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of all work areas and equipment
• Adhere to all safety, infection control, and confidentiality standards

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Sterile Processing Certification (CRCST or CSPDT) required within 18 months of employment
• Knowledge of surgical instruments, hospital equipment, and medical terminology
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to lift and move items over 30 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Ability to respond effectively to urgent and emergency supply needs

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of experience in Central Sterile Processing
• Previous hospital-based sterile processing experience
• Basic computer skills and experience with instrument tracking systems
