Sterile Processing Technician I

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical and procedural instrumentation.
• Follow manufacturer "Information for Use" (IFU) guidelines for cleaning, solution selection, and sterilization processes.
• Operate and troubleshoot sterilization and cleaning machines, including performing biologic sterilization tests.
• Utilize computerized instrument tracking systems and manage the distribution of sets to end users.
• Assemble surgical case carts and select non-instrument medical supplies based on surgeon preference cards.
• Process and restock Emergency Crash Carts and Intubation Boxes, ensuring all supplies are current and sealed.
• Identify and separate single-use versus multiple-use instruments to ensure patient safety.
• Maintain compliance with all safety policies, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or higher level degree.
• Ability to routinely lift up to 25 pounds during instrument processing and distribution.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to handle stressful situations professionally.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing clinical priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification.
• Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) certification.
• Previous experience in Sterile Processing, Central Services, or a healthcare environment.
