About the role
Responsibilities
- Clean, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols
- Conduct daily sterilization equipment tests, including Bowie-Dick, chemical, and biological indicator tests, and maintain accurate records
- Stock and assemble case carts to ensure proper inventory and availability of supplies for surgical procedures
- Perform routine maintenance on sterilization equipment, such as weekly autoclave cleaning, and report malfunctions
- Organize and store sterilized instruments on appropriately labeled shelves for easy accessibility
- Monitor and restock supply shelves and carts daily to ensure adequate inventory levels
- Adhere to all infection control policies and standard precautions to prevent hospital-acquired infections
- Communicate with nursing units to track equipment and document any loss of supplies
Requirements
- 0-2 years of experience in sterile processing, instrument reprocessing, or an operating room environment
- Strong knowledge of sterilization processes and infection control protocols
- Proficiency in operating autoclaves and performing Bowie-Dick, chemical, and biological indicator testing
- High attention to detail and ability to follow strict medical protocols
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety and quality standards
