Statistician/Data Scientist

QED.ai is a tech company focused on public health and food security in Sub-Saharan Africa. We build the digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence that empowers the intersection of aid and scientific inquiry, including epidemiological surveillance and in-situ nutrient analysis.

Responsibilities

• Perform statistical analysis of national-scale health data related to HIV, TB, and malaria
• Analyze data quality, including timeliness, completeness, and correctness
• Construct and analyze key epidemiological performance indicators
• Conduct statistical analysis of spectroscopic data related to agronomy and environmental health
• Construct dashboards to present and visualize data analytics using SQL and git
• Collaborate with governmental, medical, agronomic, and computer science teams on research papers and impact reports

Requirements

• Proficiency with core statistical concepts
• Ability to use computer programming to wrangle and analyze statistical data
• Formal academic studies in statistics, data science, or software engineering
• Practical experience analyzing real-world datasets using regression, hypothesis testing, survey design, time series, and RCTs
• Proficiency in modern machine learning methods including decision trees, boosting, and neural networks
• Proficiency with git version control and Python-based programming environments
• Working proficiency (C1) in English with typing speed ≥45 wpm
• Strong logical reasoning and clear communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Participation in STEM competitions like Kaggle, Philippine Mathematical Olympiad, or Informatics Olympiad
• Experience with medical, epidemiology, or agricultural data
• Domain knowledge in sustainable development goals, public health, agriculture, or climate change
