State Fleet Maintenance Manager

Responsibilities

• Oversee workshop activities to ensure compliance with WHS, HV/NHVR, OEM, and internal safety standards
• Manage the execution of the state maintenance plan, ensuring PMs and corrective work are delivered on time
• Hold Workshop Managers and vendors accountable for minimizing downtime and maintaining fleet roadworthiness
• Monitor repeat breakdowns and quality trends to implement root cause analysis and permanent fixes
• Oversee maintenance spend and vendor performance against budgets and national frameworks
• Lead, coach, and manage Workshop Managers and supervisors regarding safety, performance, and culture
• Oversee the condition and compliance of workshop infrastructure, plant, and tooling
• Provide timely and accurate reporting of KPIs, risks, and maintenance issues

Requirements

• Solid background in heavy vehicle maintenance, ideally across multiple sites
• Proven experience leading workshops or maintenance teams
• Strong understanding of safety, compliance, and workshop best practices
• Ability to manage downtime, costs, and external repairers effectively
• Technical proficiency to challenge maintenance issues and decisions
• Experience using systems for reporting and KPI tracking (e.g., JDE)
• Trade or engineering background is preferred
