Stamping Process Engineer

Responsibilities

• Deliver high quality stamping dies and processes that meet production, part quality, and cost goals
• Support Vehicle Engineers through part and assembly DFM studies
• Provide technical direction on tool and equipment design and build
• Manage all aspects of tool development including project planning, RFQ generation, and supplier performance
• Resolve complex part formability issues using die compensation strategies
• Lead tooling design and quality standards creation
• Provide project direction to technicians and stamping plant personnel

Requirements

• B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 10+ years of experience in die design, manufacturing, and tuning
• Hands-on experience buying-off dies for construction quality and part accuracy
• Experience managing international tool and die suppliers
• Experience creating die operation layouts
• Hands-on experience with dimensional verification for body in white components
• Completion of GD&T training course by a certified instructor within the last 8 years
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical control systems
• Ability to travel up to 50% during build and buy-off events

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with die suppliers in China/Asia
• Experience with sheet metal formability simulation software
• Experience applying statistical analysis to improve product quality
• Bilingual in English and Mandarin
