Staking Technician

Responsibilities

• Design, route, and stake electric distribution and service facilities including transformers and lines
• Prepare and maintain accurate electronic staking sheets and engineering records
• Obtain GPS coordinates for newly designed facilities
• Secure easements and manage rights-of-way for construction projects
• Coordinate permitting requirements for road right-of-way access
• Assist in planning system expansion and long-term infrastructure goals
• Oversee staking of the Construction Work Plan (CWP)
• Collaborate with consulting engineers and internal departments
• Support engineering administrative tasks including calculations and billing
• Address member inquiries and explain project costs
• Participate in emergency response situations as needed

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of seven years of experience in electric distribution line construction
• Working knowledge of easements, rights-of-way, and utility permitting
• Proficiency with computers and standard office equipment
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills
• Valid Indiana driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in a related field
• Familiarity with RUS standards
