About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual and physical inspections of stainless steel and exotic alloys scrap to identify grade, alloy type, and composition
  • Use spectrometers, XRF analyzers, magnets, or spark tests to verify material grades
  • Accurately classify materials according to internal and industry standards
  • Identify contamination, off-grade materials, and inconsistencies in inbound and outbound scrap
  • Participate in receiving processes by unloading, sorting, and organizing deliveries
  • Collaborate with yard staff to maintain efficient material flow and conduct monthly inventory
  • Record inspection results and grade confirmations in internal systems

Requirements

  • Experience in metals recycling, scrap yards, steel mills, or similar environments
  • Knowledge of stainless-steel and exotic alloy grades and identification techniques
  • Ability to perform hands-on yard work including sorting and material handling
  • Experience using XRF analyzers or other grade verification tools
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in classification
  • Ability to work outdoors and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Basic computer or tablet literacy
  • 2+ years of experience in stainless steel classification or metal quality control preferred
  • Forklift or equipment experience or willingness to certify
