Stage Props and Puppets Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide required props and puppets maintenance for Walt Disney Theatre and shipwide shows
• Responsible for scenic paint touch ups
• Assist with performer orientation and puppet harness fittings
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine repair of Walt Disney Theatre equipment
• Collect, receive and load CO2 product
• Set, strike and perform required show tracks for all Walt Disney Theatre shows
• Perform emergency abbreviated shows based on weather and safety requirements
• Contribute to load in/outs, cast changeovers, and new show installations

Requirements

• Minimum three years experience in a prop or scenic workshop environment
• Experience in a theatrical environment with knowledge of technical theatre terminology
• Experience with paints, adhesives, and materials including polystyrene, metal, wood, fiberglass, plaster of paris, foams, and silicone rubber
• Ability to work at heights and with heavy equipment
• Ability to work in environments with haze, fog, dry ice, and other special effects
• Valid passport and ability to obtain a C1/D Seaman's visa
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications

• Training in puppetry or prop making
• Experience in scene painting or basic carpentry
• Trade school or diploma
