Stage Fluids Engineer II

Responsibilities

• Design plumbing systems, components, and their secondary structures
• Analyze systems and components in harsh and dynamic launch environments
• Model systems to characterize and predict behavior at all conditions
• Test and qualify systems and components
• Manage requirements, realization, and implementation of systems
• Integrate hardware into the vehicle
• Review testing data to optimize future designs
• Collaborate with propulsion, structures, mechanical, and software teams
• Create tools to enhance analysis capabilities and streamline workflows

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline
• 2+ years of experience in a hardware rich environment
• Strong understanding of engineering project lifecycles
• Strong fundamentals in fluid dynamics and thermodynamics
• Knowledge of fluid components like valves, pressure vessels, and fittings
• Working knowledge of DfM/DfAM, machining, and welding processes
• Knowledge of integration processes and quality control for fluid systems

Preferred Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in a fast-paced aerospace environment
• Experience designing for mass minimization and manufacturability
• Ability to manage plumbing and instrumentation diagrams
• Strong understanding of mechanical drafting and GD&T
• Experience with oxygen, methane, or cryogenic systems
• Proficiency with fluids analysis tools (REFPROP, AMESIM, GFSSP) or Python solvers
• Experience with mechanical analysis tools (ANSYS, NASTRAN)
• Experience using Siemens NX and Teamcenter
