About the role

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key contributor for system architecture, system-level requirements, and interfaces across complex electro-mechanical medical devices
  • Drive systems engineering excellence across the full product lifecycle, including requirements management, integration, verification, and validation
  • Author and review system and sub-system requirements, design specifications, and test methods
  • Contribute to system V&V planning and execution, including protocol development, execution, and reporting
  • Partner with project management, regulatory, quality, clinical, and marketing teams to drive aligned technical decisions
  • Apply systems thinking to solve complex technical problems and manage technical risk
  • Support risk management activities, including system-level hazard analysis and FMEA
  • Plan, design, and analyze technical experiments, including characterization, prototyping, and Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • 8+ years of experience in R&D engineering within medical devices, diagnostics, or regulated electro-mechanical systems
  • Demonstrated expertise in systems engineering principles (architecture, integration, V&V)
  • Hands-on experience with requirements management tools such as Polarion, Jama, or DOORS
  • Strong experience developing and executing system-level V&V protocols
  • Solid knowledge of IEC 60601-1 and relevant medical device standards
  • Strong analytical skills, including data acquisition, statistical analysis, and DFSS methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field
  • Experience operating effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced, and agile environments
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical complexity and influence decisions without formal authority
  • Experience working directly with customers or clinical users to understand workflows and unmet needs
