Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize designs for cost, assembly, and manufacturability
- Lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) reviews with suppliers
- Own the execution of the Quality Maturation Level (QML) roadmap from prototype through Start of Production (SOP)
- Manage PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) submissions and technical maturation of supplier tooling
- Identify and mitigate program schedule risks including tooling lead times and supplier capacity
- Drive closed-loop Non-Conformance Management by issuing Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR)
- Monitor supplier performance and QMS effectiveness through on-site process control plan audits
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives like Lean and Lean Product Development
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in supplier industrialization, quality engineering, or manufacturing engineering
- Expertise in complex sheet metal fabrication (stamping, laser cut, plated, and bent parts)
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related technical discipline
- Technical mastery in high-volume sheet metal processing including progressive die stamping and drawing
- Expert-level mastery of GD&T principles per ASME Y14.5
- Proficiency in 3D CAD platforms such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD
- Strong knowledge of secondary processes like heat treating, stress relieving, and chemical coatings
- Fluency in Core Tools including PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and Process Flow Diagrams
