Staff Special Projects Engineer

Responsibilities

• Partner directly with the CTO to conceive, architect, and develop new hypersonic and reentry vehicle concepts and technologies
• Lead system-level design and performance modeling of advanced flight systems, including trajectory analysis and GNC trade studies
• Create conceptual and detailed CAD models for proposed systems and subsystems
• Translate high-level product ideas into executable proposals to win contracts
• Build, test, and iterate through 6DOF simulations, hands-on prototyping, and experimental validation
• Operate independently to make hard technical decisions under uncertainty

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in aerospace engineering
• Experience in system-level vehicle design, analysis, and integration
• Demonstrated experience designing and modeling hypersonic, reentry, or launch vehicle systems
• Strong foundation in flight dynamics, aerothermodynamics, GNC, and trajectory analysis
• Proficiency in CAD and mechanical design for aerospace applications
• Proven ability to take ideas from zero to one through prototyping and validation
• Ability to work fully onsite in Playa Vista, CA

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in hypersonics, reentry systems, or rocket vehicle design
• Familiarity with 6DOF modeling and simulation environments
• Background in startup environments requiring high autonomy
• Experience with multi-disciplinary integration of mechanical, thermal, and aerodynamic systems
