Staff Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Act as a technical expert and leader to ensure best practices and well-engineered architecture across the department
• Maintain accountability for service quality and the successful on-time, on-budget delivery of assigned projects
• Provide formal and informal mentoring to engineering teams to improve technical skill sets and culture
• Identify systemic issues and technical risks, recommending and implementing preferred solutions
• Partner with product owners to define functional and non-functional requirements and design for scale, reliability, and cost
• Improve operational excellence and platform availability for students, faculty, and staff

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience)
• 10 years of professional software development experience
• Proficiency with React 18 and experience building custom component libraries and accessibility auditing
• Strong expertise in Python and the Django framework, including Django REST Framework
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Proficiency with Relational Databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and SQL

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related field
• AWS Solutions Architect Certification
• Experience with Salesforce development lifecycle and governor limits
• Experience with cloud-based telephony, CTI, SIP/VoIP protocols, and enterprise-level contact center solutions
