Staff Software Engineer, Storage

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the long-term technical strategy for Crusoe’s storage engine
• Architect and implement solutions utilizing industry-standard storage protocols such as NFS, SMB, iSCSI, and NVMe/TCP
• Build the foundations of V2 storage re-architecture using C, C++, Go, or Rust
• Lead complex design reviews across storage, networking, and virtualization
• Solve difficult bottlenecks from kernel-level IO context switching to global tail-latency
• Drive and maintain contributions to the open-source community

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience building and operating large-scale distributed cloud computing infrastructure
• Deep knowledge of distributed state and data protection at petabyte scale
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills for the entire IO path
• Mastery of professional software engineering practices for the full SDLC
• Proficiency in system programming languages like C, C++, Go, or Rust

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in Public Cloud offerings (AWS, GCP, Azure, OCI)
• Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks like PyTorch, Tensorflow, or JAX
• Experience with high-throughput I/O architectures like DAOS or SPDK
• Background in RDMA and high-performance networking (SmartNICs, RoCEv2)
• Experience with distributed systems like Cassandra, MongoDB, Redis, or Kafka
• Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Computer Science or Engineering
